Vrindavan (Uttar Pradesh) [India], Apr 11 (ANI): Actor and BJP MP Hema Malini on Thursday blamed people visiting Mathura and Vrindavan for “spoiling” monkeys by feeding the animals “Frooti and samosa” instead of fruits, causing an increase in the monkey menace in the twin temple cities.
“There is a huge problem of monkeys, but you see there is co-existence. Where will the monkeys go? The problem is that tourist here give them Frooti and samosa and have spoiled them. Give them fruits only,” she said.
The actor was asked about the money menace at a gathering of local people and seers at ‘Sudama Kuti’ in Vrindavan.
Hema Malini said discussions were on with Union Minister and animal rights activist Maneka Gandhi and “we will soon resolve the problem”.
She also referred to the problem of stray cattle and said that cow shelters are being constructed.
“Stray cattle roam every lane and alley but we are building cow shelters and trying to resolve the problem,” she added.
Hema Malini was elected to Lok Sabha from Mathura in 2014 by defeating Jayant Chaudhary of RLD by margin of over three lakh votes.
Polling for eight parliamentary constituencies in western Uttar Pradesh was held today. There are 80 Lok Sabha seats in the state and voting in rest of the constituencies will take place in the next six phases of the general elections. (ANI)
