"Doing this out of frustration": Aam Aadmi Party's Sanjay Singh alleges BJP's 'hooliganism'

New Delhi [India], February 4 (ANI): Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh on Tuesday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of engaging in open hooliganism across several constituencies during the ongoing Delhi Assembly elections, alleging the Election Commission has remained silent on the matter.
"Where is the Supreme Court in New Delhi, where is the Election Commission, and where the Parliament is, hooliganism is happening openly," Singh said while speaking to ANI.
He claimed that AAP National Convenor and New Delhi constituency candidate Arvind Kejriwal's car was attacked. "Arvind Kejriwal, who is the candidate from New Delhi, is having his car broken and stones are being thrown at his car," Singh stated.
He further alleged that similar acts of violence and electoral malpractice were taking place in other constituencies.
"Hooliganism is going on in Kalkaji. In Rajinder Nagar, money is being used, and the same thing is happening in Jangpura as well. The Election Commission is not seeing this. The Election Commission is completely silent," Singh said.
Blaming the BJP for resorting to such tactics, Singh claimed it reflected the party's desperation. "They (BJP) are losing; that is why they are doing this out of frustration," he said, asserting AAP's strong position in the elections. "We are winning more than 60 seats," he added confidently.
Singh's accusations come after Delhi Chief Minister Atishi raised similar concerns, alleging that BJP workers, including individuals linked to MP Ramesh Bidhuri's team, were threatening voters and violating the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) during the silence period. Atishi had presented GPS-tagged photos and videos as evidence, claiming police inaction despite clear proof.
In his counter attack, BJP leader Ramesh Bidhuri accused AAP's Atishi of spreading false rumours, engaging in hooliganism, and misbehaving with BJP workers.
Bidhuri alleged that Atishi and her workers threatened BJP workers and detained residents, citing an incident where a resident was stopped and detained for two hours. Bidhuri has complained to the police regarding Atishi's behaviour.
"Atishi ji should respect the law and the Constitution. As the Chief Minister, sitting in a constitutional position, her scandalous actions that spread false rumours are inappropriate. If I am contesting in the election, what's wrong with bringing my son and wife to campaign with me? AAP has done nothing in the past five years, especially in Kalkaji. I got to know that the Chief Minister is roaming around Delhi in vehicles with UP license plates, accompanied by thirty or forty people, engaging in hooliganism. We have complained to the police regarding her behaviour," he said.
He further alleged that AAP workers are threatening their workers and residents of Delhi.
The Delhi elections have witnessed escalating tensions, with AAP leaders accusing BJP of voter intimidation, MCC violations, and leveraging police support to suppress complaints. Atishi had earlier criticized the Election Commission for allegedly targeting AAP leaders while ignoring violations committed by BJP workers. (ANI)
