DMK govt's planned cabinet reshuffle is deception, prioritizing leaders' interests over Tamil Nadu's: BJP

Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], September 25 (ANI): Amid the speculation of Tamil Nadu sports minister Udhayanidhi Stalin's elevation as deputy chief minister, BJP's Tamil Nadu unit has alleged that the DMK government's planned cabinet reshuffle is a mere deception, prioritizing leaders' interests over Tamil Nadu's welfare.
"Udhayanidhi's rise to prominence is largely attributed to his family legacy, being the grandson of former Chief Minister M Karunanidhi and son of the current Chief Minister," ANS Prasad, BJP's spokesperson said in a statement.
He said that for three years, rampant corruption, nepotism, and crony capitalism have plagued the state.
"The Chief Minister should focus on uplifting all Tamil Nadu families, not just his own. The state's youth suffer due to DMK's false promises, corruption, and anti-people policies. Furthermore, the Chief Minister's enthusiasm for his son Udhayanidhi Stalin's growth in the sports department raises questions. Why doesn't he show equal concern for Tamil Nadu's development and people's welfare? Every parent desires their child's success, but shouldn't the Chief Minister prioritize all Tamil Nadu children's growth?" Prasad said.
He said that the DMK's "family-dominated politics" and the Chief Minister's "monarchic style" of succession are concerning.
"The DMK government has failed to prioritize the welfare of Tamil Nadu's citizens, catering to party leaders and cronies instead. In contrast, the BJP-led alliance under Prime Minister Narendra Modi promises clean governance, prioritizing Tamil Nadu's welfare. We urge the people of Tamil Nadu to exercise their right to vote wisely in the 2026 assembly elections," Prasad said.
Earlier on September 19, Tamil Nadu minister Tha Mo Anbarasan said that Udhayanidhi Stalin, son of Chief Minister MK Stalin, is likely to be announced as the Deputy Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu within the next 7 to 10 days.
"Udhayanidhi Stalin is likely to be announced as Deputy Chief Minister within 7-10 days or maybe even tomorrow," Anbarasan told reporters.
He further said that the party is planning the DMK Diamond Jubilee public meeting, which is scheduled for September 28.
"We are planning the DMK Diamond Jubilee public meet, which is scheduled on September 28, at Kanchipuram Pachayappa's College for Men Ground. The meeting will be led by CM. Alliance party members will attend, participate and address it. The public meeting will be coordinated by Kanchipuram South District and North District," Anbarasan said. (ANI)
