Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], March 3 (ANI): Political circles in Karnataka are abuzz after veteran Congress leader and former CM Veerappa Moily praised Deputy CM DK Shivakumar's leadership and asserting that he is destined to become the next CM.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) which has been claiming that a change in Congress leadership is imminent jumped into the issue with leader Dheeraj Muniraj said DK Shivakumar was playing a 'political game'.
Further, he stated that he did not want the people of the state to suffer and their interest should not suffer.
Speaking to ANI, Muniraj said "This is a political game that DK Shivakumar is playing... In all of this, we don't want the people of Karnataka to suffer. The state will run whether someone stays or not, but the interest of the people should not suffer."
On Sunday, Congress leader Veerappa Moily had praised DK Shivakumar's leadership, asserting that he is destined to become the Chief Minister. "You (DK Shivakumar) have given good leadership. You have built the party. People are making statements, but no one can stop you from becoming CM. There is no need to get agitated about it. No one can stop you from becoming CM. Becoming Chief Minister is not something that should be given as a gift; it is something he has earned through hard work," Moily had said.
Dhanraj Muniraj also mocked the state budget and warned the government of a 'bad name' if change was not brought.
"The budget is going on right now...Are the people getting what they need? They are making claims but the ground reality is totally different. It's been two years and if they continue such way, they will get a bad name in the public eye. They need to correct themselves..." he further stated.
The Karnataka state budget session commenced earlier in the day with Speaker UT Khader, Council Chairman Basavaraj Horatti, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, and Deputy CM DK Shivakumar extending a warm welcome to Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot upon his arrival at Vidhana Soudha to participate in the proceedings.
