New Delhi [India], October 5 (ANI): Disqualified Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Member of Parliament Mohammed Faizal has moved the Supreme Court against the Kerala High Court order rejecting his plea for suspension of his conviction in an attempt to murder case.
Kerala High Court on October 3 dismissed Faizal's plea seeking suspension of his conviction in the attempt to murder case. Faizal has challenged the High Court's order in the Supreme Court.
Mohammed Faizal was disqualified from the Lok Sabha on Wednesday after the Kerala High Court verdict.
Faizal has been disqualified as a Lok Sabha member for the second time. He was earlier disqualified in January following his conviction by the sessions court in the case along with four others.
His disqualification was revoked in March after the Kerala High Court stayed his conviction in the case. But the Supreme Court asked the High Court to consider the matter afresh and set aside the earlier order.
The Lakshadweep administration had moved the Supreme Court challenging the Kerala High Court order.
According to the prosecution, Faizal led a group of people to attack and grievously injure Salih over an argument about constructing a shed. The victim had been flown to Kerala where he remained hospitalised for months. (ANI)
