Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], March 15 (ANI): AIADMK general secretary and former Tamil Nadu CM Eddapadi K Palaniswami has lashed out at the incumbent state DMK government over the delimitation and third language issue, accusing the DMK of doublespeak.
"What benefits did Tamil Nadu get after joining the INDIA alliance?. When DMK was part of the central government for 13 years why was education not shifted to the State list from the concurrent list. If they had done that this problem wouldn't have been raised right now", Palaniswami said while speaking to the media on Saturday.
EPS alleged that DMK is only in alliance with Congress and they were not doing anything for the benefit of the state.
"DMK is only alliance with Congress. But did Mekdatu dam issue got solved. Congress only rules Karnataka and DMK, Congress part of INDIA alliance. What benefits Tamil Nadu got after forming INDIA alliance?. Nothing we got benefited. Moreover DMK was part of Central and State, they could have got many schemes for Tamil Nadu, would have solved Cauvery issue but they didn't do anything.. Just they need power not Tamil Nadu people welfare", EPS said.
Responding to the proposed Joint Action Committee meeting called for by CM MK Stalin on March 22, EPS questioned whey the three language policy was not part of these discussions. Palaniswami said that these meetings are just for political benefits and not to solve the problem of the people.
"Now DMK is going to all States inviting them for the delimitation meeting. In Karnataka we have Kannada as mother tongue, In Telangana Telugu is mother tongue, In Odisha Oria is mother tongue, in Kerala we have Malayalam", he said.
"When they (DMK) went to all states to invite for delimitation meeting why didn't they speak about the two language policy?. Because they won't follow us. Karnataka have accepted New Education Policy. All these meetings are just for political benefits not to solve state people problem", Palaniswami added.
Earlier on Friday, Tamil Nadu Minister P Thiaga Rajan and South Chennai MP Dr Thamizhachi Thangapandian extended an invitation to Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan for the Joint Action Committee (JAC) meeting to be held in Chennai on March 22, to collectively oppose the proposed delimitation of parliamentary constituencies.
Stalin has requested Chief Ministers of Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, West Bengal, Odisha, and Punjab to join the Joint Action Committee (JAC). (ANI)
