Patna (Bihar) [India], Feb 1 (ANI): Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday hailed the decision of transferring Rs 6000 directly to farmers account and said that this step will strengthen the economic condition of rural areas.
“I welcome the decision to transfer Rs 6000 directly to farmers' accounts every year. It will strengthen the economic conditions of rural areas. Also, I welcome the decision of tax rebate for taxpayers with annual income of up to Rs 5 lakh. It will give relief to the middle class,” said Nitish Kumar while sharing his remarks on the budget.
The central government’s latest announcement to introduce a new scheme in the agriculture sector will entail payment of Rs 6,000 annually to each of the 12 crore marginal farmers in the country.
The scheme titled Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi will involve an annual outlay of Rs 75,000 crore, said Finance Minister Piyush Goyal while presenting the Interim Budget 2019-20 in Parliament on Friday.
The government on Friday also raised individual Income Tax exemption limit to Rs 5 lakh per annum and announced a major financial support scheme for farmers as well as a pension scheme for the unorganised sector as it presented a ‘feel-good’ interim Budget ahead of the Lok Sabha polls. (ANI)
