YSR District (Andhra Pradesh) [India], August 9 (ANI): YSRCP State General Secretary Satish Kumar Reddy has alleged that leaders of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) are conspiring to assassinate him in Pulivendula, YSR District.
He alleged that the plan was in retaliation for his recent remarks criticising Lokesh during a press conference.
Addressing the mediapersons, Reddy said the conspiracy was not limited to intimidation or assault but carried a "direct intent to kill."
He expressed complete distrust in the state police and pointed to the absence of adequate personal security. He later stated that local authorities could not be relied upon to ensure his safety or conduct an impartial investigation.
YSR Congress Party leader claimed he had received credible information from well-wishers within the TDP that Nara Lokesh and Mareddy Ravindranath Reddy, popularly known as B.Tech Ravi, were orchestrating an attack to eliminate him.
He directly appealed to the Director General of Police (DGP) to take cognisance of the alleged plot and initiate an inquiry.
Reddy further demanded a suo motu CBI investigation, stressing that Lokesh and B.Tech Ravi must be held responsible for any harm that befalls him.
Earlier in the day, YSRCP charged the TDP-led government with gross misuse of power and resorting to undemocratic measures to wrest the local body by-poll in Pulivendula, reiterating that despite such nefarious measures, the image of former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy will not be affected.
Speaking to mediapersons, Party spokesperson Rachamallu Siva Prasada Reddy said, the election is being fought not with TDP but with official machinery, and the ruling coalition is hell bent on damaging the image and fame of the YS family. He appealed to the people and cadre to work with a strong resolve braving all hardships to retain the seat.
He also alleged that the election is being fought in the most undemocratic manner with the official machinery siding totally with the ruling party while TDP has been resorting to violence, bloodshed, misuse of police, jumbling of polling booths causing inconvenience to voters who are committed to YSRCP, extravaganza of money, foisting false cases on political adversaries, besides heavy poaching.
