Did you consult other committee members before submitting report: SC asks head of monitoring committee in Gujarat police encounter probe

New Delhi [India], Dec 12 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Wednesday asked Justice (Retd) H. S. Bedi, President of the monitoring committee investigating 16 police encounters between 2002 to 2007 in Gujarat, whether he had taken any opinion or advice from the other committee members before submitting the report.
The Gujarat government on Wednesday submitted before the three-judge bench of the Apex Court, headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) Ranjan Gogoi and also comprising Justices K M Jospeh and Sanjay Kishan Kaul, that the committee had not taken any opinion or advise while submitting the report in the case.
The bench of the Apex Court, was hearing two petitions filed by noted Hindi film lyricist, Javed Akhtar and veteran journalist, BG Vergese (now died), who sought that the report should be submitted to them.
The Apex Court fixed the matter for further hearing to January 9 next year. (ANI)
