Devotees offers prayers to Lord Shiva on fourth Monday of Shravan in Uttar Pradesh

On the fourth Monday of the holy month of Shravan, devotees across the various cities in Uttar Pradesh visited temples to offer prayers to Lord Shiva.

Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh) [India] August 12 (ANI): On the fourth Monday of the holy month of Shravan, devotees across the various cities in Uttar Pradesh visited temples to offer prayers to Lord Shiva.
In Varanasi, devotees flocked to Kashi Vishwanath temple after bathing in Ganga.
Shashank Shekar Tripathi, a devotee from Baliya, praised the security arrangement at the temple's premises.
"Security and management is very good here. We got to offer our prayers to Baba (Lord Shiva) with ease," he said.
Maruti Nandan, another devotee who came from Chnadoli to offer prayers, said, "Baba 's view is wonderful, we are lucky to offer our prayers to Baba today."
Devotees also thronged Prayagraj's Mankameshwar Temple to offer prayers on the occasion. They offered water along with flowers to lord Shiva and prayed for their well-being.
Shakuntla Gupta, a devotee from Prayagrah, after offering prayer to Lord Shiva spoke to ANI.
"We offered water to the lord and prayed to god for our wellness," she said.
In Ayodhya, devotees flocked to Nageshwar Nath Temple. Devotees from different places visited the land of Rama to offer their prayers for their well-being.
The same visuals were also seen in Kanpur and many other cities of Uttar Pradesh as devotees celebrated the fourth Monday of Shravan.
Shravan month is considered the month of Lord Shiva. It is believed that the devotees who worship Lord Shiva this month receive many blessings. During the Shravan month, a day of Shivratri is also celebrated and the importance of Shravan Shivratri is the same and equal to that of the yearly Shivratri.
This sacred month, typically falling between July and August, is a period of worship, fasting and pilgrimage dedicated to the Lord Shiva.
Shravan holds a special place in Hindu mythology as the month when Lord Shiva is believed to have consumed the poison that emerged from the churning of the ocean (Samudra Manthan), saving the universe from its toxic effects
Devotees undertake fasts and offer prayers to seek the blessings of Lord Shiva during this period. The cooling rains of Sawan are symbolic of Shiva's compassion and benevolence. (ANI)
