Indore (Madhya Pradesh) [India], October 31 (ANI): Thousands of devotees offered prayers at Indore's renowned Khajrana Ganesha Temple on Diwali, Thursday. Devotees stood in long queues from the morning to visit the temple.
The temple complex also includes a Lakshmi temple, where people gathered to offer prayers.
The priest of Khajrana Ganesha Temple, Vineet Bhatt, told ANI, "Thousands of devotees arrived at Khajrana Ganesha Temple from the morning for aarti and darshan. Special arrangements have been made to ensure all devotees can easily have darshan. There is also a Mahalakshmi temple within the same complex, which drew thousands of visitors."
Due to differences in the calendar this year, the Diwali festival is being celebrated over two days. The auspicious time for Diwali began at 4:00 pm today and will continue until 6:00 pm on November 1, with many people celebrating Diwali on Friday.
Earlier, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, State BJP Chief VD Sharma, and other leaders performed Lakshmi-Ganesha puja at the party office in Bhopal, the state capital, praying for happiness, peace, and prosperity in the state.
"Today, we performed Lakshmi-Ganesha puja on the occasion of Diwali at the party office in Bhopal. This puja was held to seek strength for the party to work towards public welfare. I extend my greetings to everyone on this Diwali," CM Yadav told reporters.
Diwali is one of the most significant festivals in India and worldwide. Known as the Festival of Lights, it symbolises the victory of light over darkness and good over evil.
Celebrations typically include prayers to Goddess Lakshmi for prosperity, sharing sweets and snacks, and exchanging gifts with loved ones. Fireworks illuminate the night sky, creating a spectacular display that enhances the festive spirit. (ANI)
