Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], August 23 (ANI): Union Minister Jitendra Singh on Sunday underscored the sweeping developmental and security transformation in Jammu and Kashmir over the past twelve years, addressing party workers and leaders during a high-level Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) office-bearers meeting in Srinagar.
Speaking to the reporter after the meeting, he highlighted the evolving mindset of the local youth, noting that young people in Kashmir are highly aspirational, seizing new economic opportunities such as lavender farming, spearheading the region's "Purple Revolution" and contributing actively to infrastructural developments like new dams.
He emphasised that these advancements position the region to play a pivotal role in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of a Viksit Bharat (Developed India) by 2047.
"A meeting of BJP office-bearers from Jammu and Kashmir took place in Srinagar today; such meetings have long been a tradition within the party. The organisation frequently holds such gatherings across various locations. Regarding this specific meeting in Srinagar, it is worth noting that it was held after a considerable gap. Over the past 12 years, since Prime Minister Narendra Modi assumed office, the atmosphere here has transformed. You have witnessed the restoration of normalcy; conditions are returning to a routine state, and development work is progressing rapidly. Simultaneously, the mindset of the common citizen and, particularly, the youth, is shifting, as they have seen the difficult era we have emerged from. Today's youth in India, and especially in Kashmir, are highly aspirational and determined not to miss this opportunity for progress. Today, for the first time, lavender farming is taking place here, and a 'Purple Revolution' is underway. New dams are being constructed. I believe that as PM Modi envisions a Viksit Bharat for the year 2047, this region will play a pivotal role," he said
In an X post, he shared glimpses of the meeting, "On the sidelines of J&K #BJP office bearers meeting at #Srinagar."

Moreover, Singh reflected on national achievements, drawing a parallel to India's historic space milestones, noting that India became the first nation to successfully reach the Moon's South Pole during the Chandrayaan mission.
He credited this success to leadership and enabling policy support, noting that opening the space sector to private enterprise has rapidly accelerated India's space economy.
"Exactly three years ago, on August 23rd, Chandrayaan landed on the Moon's South Pole. Although other nations had initiated their space journeys and programs long before us, we became the first country in the world to reach the South Pole. This demonstrates that we never lacked human resources or talent; what was perhaps missing was the kind of enabling support that comes from the leadership--support that we have now received. Since PM Modi assumed office, the space sector has been opened to the private sector, and given the rapid growth of the space economy, I feel we have now positioned ourselves among the leading nations of the world," he said.
