New Delhi (India), December 8 (ANI) The central government has asked social media giants to soon deploy Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools to identify obscene and objectionable contents inciting violence and hatred, Ministry of Home Affairs officials said here on Friday.
According to officials, social media giants such as Facebook, WhatsApp and Twitter have also been asked to appoint grievance officers in India.
The Centre has also asked the social media representatives to identify all those who were involved in disseminating such contents so that they could be prosecuted accordingly.
The compliance rate has gone up to 80 per cent from 60 per cent after the government held a series of meetings with social media giants to check the flow of objectionable contents, the officials said and added that the Ministry was getting cooperation from these platforms.
Notably, the Ministry of Home Affairs led by Union Home Secretary Rajiv Gauba had started a series of meetings at regular intervals with the representatives of social media giants to check the flow of objectionable contents on the platform. He had called upon them to take concrete steps to ensure a robust and effective system for preventing misuse of their platforms for activities detrimental to national security. (ANI)
