Department of Pension and Pensioners Welfare organise 'Shramdan - Swachhata hi Seva' event at Nehru Park

New Delhi [India], October 2 (ANI): The Department of Pension and Pensioners Welfare (DOPPW) organised the 'Shramdan - Swachhata hi Seva' event at Nehru Park on Niti Marg here as part of the national-level 'Ek Tareekh- Ek Ghanta' cleanliness drive.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation in cleanliness activities by all officers and employees of the DOPPW, read the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions press release.
On October 1, Union Minister of State for Personnel and Public Grievances Jitendra Singh along with Secretary (Pension) V Srinivas, Additional Secretary (Pension) S N Mathur and all DOPPW officials actively participated in 'Shramdaan' (voluntary work) and planted trees as a tribute to Mahatma Gandhi, read the press release.
In his message, Singh said, “cleanliness drive is not only a government initiative but now has become a mass movement”.
During the event, V Srinivas, Secretary (Pension), S N Mathur, Additional Secretary (Pension), and all DOPPW officials paid their respects to Mahatma Gandhi by contributing to the cleanliness drive.
The 'Ek Tareekh Ek Ghanta' program encourages all DOPPW employees to voluntarily engage in cleaning efforts. This phase aligns with the Prime Minister's vision of a "Garbage-Free India."
The DOPPW, led by Secretary (Pension) V Srinivas, organized the event to actively participate in realising this vision, read the press release.
Furthermore, the department launched an extensive Swachh Bharat Mission campaign across India through Central Government Pensioners' Associations and their affiliated groups.
All 50 Central Government Pensioners' Associations actively joined the "Swachhta Shramdaan" on October 1, throughout the country, demonstrating their commitment to a cleaner and more sustainable India. (ANI)
