Kalaburagi (Karnataka) [India], July 11 (ANI): Amid the rising dengue cases in the state, Karnataka Medical Education Minister Sharan Prakash Patil paid a visit to Gulbarga Institute of Medical Sciences Hospital (GIMS) here on Thursday and said the "situation is under control."

"I visited the GIMS hospital to take stock of the situation and the preparation for dengue. Separate wards are maintained for dengue cases and as of now there are only four cases. The situation is under control...19 cases have been reported but most of them are treated in OPD..." said Karnataka Medical Education Minister Sharan Prakash Patil.
Meanwhile, Karnataka Bharatiya Janata Party President BY Vijayendra attacked the state government over the dengue cases and said that the Karnataka government is not "bothered," adding that BJP will raise the issue in the Assembly.
"This (state) government is not at all bothered. Even the concerned minister is sitting in Bengaluru and not touring the state. The state government has not taken this issue seriously. Day by day, dengue cases and deaths are increasing. In my constituency, a nine-month-old baby passed away due to dengue. We will raise this issue in the Assembly also," Vijayendra told reporters.
He further attacked Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar and said that he was only interested in real estate.
"The present Congress government is least bothered about the development of the state. Development works have come to a standstill in the state. Now, Deputy CM DK Shivakumar is talking about renaming Ramanagara district to Bengaluru South. God knows what is the agenda behind this decision. Entire Karnataka knows that DK Shivakumar is interested only in real estate. I think there is a real estate agenda behind this thinking. It is a political gimmick," he said.
Karnataka has witnessed over 7000 cases in the state, after which Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah instructed the officials to eliminate mosquito breeding sites. He further instructed the officials to allocate 10 beds in a ward at every hospital separately for dengue cases.
Karnataka Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao on Tuesday said that they are strictly monitoring the situation.
"We are monitoring the situation...we have asked Asha workers and volunteers to go house to house...government is working full time...main thing is to control the spread of mosquito and also to stop deaths from happening," the Karnataka Health Minister said. (ANI)
