Dengue outbreak: Uttarakhand Health Secretary reviews facilities at rural hospitals in Champawat

Tanakpur (Uttarakhand) [India], October 8 (ANI): In view of the increasing cases of dengue, Uttarakhand Health Secretary Dr R Rajesh Kumar examined the ground reality of health facilities in Chief Minister Puskar Singh Dhami's assembly constituency, an official statement said on Sunday.
CM Dhami has represented the Champawat Assembly constituency in the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly since 2022.
The statement further said that the Health Secretary instructed the health officials not to indulge in any negligence in the treatment of patients.
It added that Health Secy today inspected Sub District Hospital Tanakpur, District Hospital Champawat, Primary Health Center Chalthi Champawat, and Sub District Hospital Lohaghat, as per the statement.
The official press release added that the Health Secretary has given instructions to make proper arrangements for dengue ward and mosquito nets in the hospital to prevent dengue disease.
Health Secretary Rajesh Kumar, who interacted with patients, also took information about various facilities being provided to them from the hospital.
Earlier in September, in view of the recent spike in dengue cases in several parts of the country, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya chaired a high-level meeting in the national capital and reviewed the dengue situation and preparedness of the public health system for prevention, containment, and the management of the disease, an official statement had said.
Health Minister Mandaviya had said that the central government has provided all necessary resources to the states in order to combat the spread of the disease and healthcare workers have also been trained, as per the statement.
He also stated that adequate fund is provided by the Centre to the States under the Program Implementation Plan (PIP) for activities including surveillance, case management, laboratory diagnosis, and insecticides, etc., to prevent and control dengue, the statement had read.
According to the World Health Organisation, dengue is a viral infection caused by the dengue virus (DENV), transmitted to humans through the bite of infected mosquitoes. (ANI)
