Democracy in danger under Modi government: Andhra CM

Alkapur (Andhra Pradesh) [India], Dec 1 (ANI): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president N Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday said that he wants to protect the democracy "which is in danger under Prime Minister Narendra Modi government."
Naidu further said that he joined hands with the Congress party only to protect the nation from Prime Minister Modi-led NDA rule. "We fought for 37 years against the Congress party. But now the nation and democracy are in danger. To protect the nation from Modi led NDA rule, we joined hands with Congress," he added.
The Chief Minister also hit out at Prime Minister Modi saying that his government did not fulfill any of the promises and assurances that were assured in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014, that bifurcated the state of Andhra Pradesh into Telangana.
Reiterating that he may join national politics, Naidu said, "I may enter national politics but won't enter Telangana politics. I'm not greedy for power. I am not thinking of becoming the Prime Minister. My aim is to protect the democracy which is in danger."
Training his guns at Telangana caretaker Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, Naidu said the former has done nothing for the development of the state during its rule.
"In four year and three months rule, KCR government did not develop anything. At the time of bifurcation, Telangana was a surplus state but after four years of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) misrule, the state is now sinking in debts," Naidu alleged.
"TRS conspired with BJP, and KCR can be called small Modi. They both are cheating public with their good oratory skills," he added.
Continuing his tirade against Rao, Naidu said, "KCR said I blocked development in Telangana. Where did I do so? KCR promised double bedrooms and chief minister post to Dalits. Did I block any of them? In fact, I asked to develop irrigation projects in both the states."
Chandrababu further said that TRS is now changing its manifesto, "Seeing the manifesto of People's Front, TRS is now planning to release another manifesto. That proves his fear against me."
The Telangana Legislative Assembly elections are scheduled to be held on December 7. Counting of votes will take place on December 11.(ANI)
