VHP hold bike rally for Ram temple construction in Delhi on Sunday

New Delhi [India], Dec 2 (ANI): With the demand for Ram temple construction growing almost on a daily basis, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) activists on Sunday championed the cause by taking out a motorcycle rally in north Delhi's Kamla Nagar with placards and banners.
In an attempt to mount pressure on the central government to facilitate its construction, the activists are demanding that the temple should be built at the earliest.
Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) Kamla Nagar ward corporator Jogi Ram Jain said that the rally is an awareness campaign to let people know the need for temple construction. A flurry of activities are underway ahead of the VHP's mega rally 'Dharma Sabha' slated to be held on December 9 at the Ramlila Maidan in the national capital.
"There is a Dharma Sabha which will be held on December 9 at Ramlila Maidan. We are taking out a bike rally today in Kamla Nagar for public awareness of constructing a Ram temple in Ayodhya. People's participation at the moment is small in numbers but gradually the volume will increase as the Dharma Sabha draws closer," Jain told ANI.
In his opinion, every individual in the country is in favour of building the temple. Elaborating about the rally, he said: "The bike rally will cover various areas of Kamla Nagar ward -- Roop Nagar, Shakti Nagar, Chandrawal, Kamla Nagar and Prem Nagar. We began the rally at around 9 am. This rally is a message of conviction to all Hindus that the temple should be built and people from all over the world can come and see it."
A former BJP corporator Arvind Garg emphasised the need for the BJP-led central government and all political parties should jointly push for a bill to clear the passage for construction of the Ram temple soon.
"A bike rally has been taken out for the Ram temple construction. This is a public awareness programme. We want the central government to take steps to ensure the building of a grand Ram temple. All parties should come together in Parliament and a bill should be passed so that the temple is constructed quickly," he said.
Recently, the VHP, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Shiv Sena organised events at various places in Ayodhya, Nagpur and Bengaluru to gain support for its construction in Ayodhya, a matter currently sub-judice in the top court.
On October 29, the Supreme Court had adjourned the Ram Janambhoomi-Babri Masjid title suit till January 2019 to fix the next hearing date in the matter, challenging the Allahabad High Court ruling of 2010.
The Allahabad High Court in its 2010 verdict had suggested the division of the disputed land in Ayodhya, one for each of the parties -- Nirmohi Akhara, Sunni Waqf Board and Ram Lalla.
It is believed that the Babri Masjid, which was built by Mughal emperor Babur in Ayodhya in 1528, was allegedly demolished by Hindu activists on December 6, 1992, who claimed that the mosque was built after demolishing a Ram temple that stood there. (ANI)
