Delhi: Two members of Kaushal Chaudhary-Bambhia gang arrested after gunfight

New Delhi [India], October 29 (ANI): Days after a shooting outside a businessman's house in Delhi's Rani Bagh area, Delhi Police arrested two members of the Kaushal Chaudhary-Pawan Shokeen-Bambhia gang in connection with the incident, officials said on Tuesday.
According to the police, Bilal Ansari (22) and Shuheb (21) - both residents of Uttar Pradesh's Bulandshahr - were arrested following a brief gunfight during the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday.
"Both accused were involved in the firing incident at a businessman's residence in Rani Bagh on October 26," officials said, adding that the attack was carried out on the order of fugitive Pawan Shokeen, alias Sonu, who operates from abroad, for extortion.
They said that both accused were arrested near Old Kakrola Road in Najafgarh.
The police recovered a semi-automatic pistol, a single-shot firearm, live cartridges, and a stolen motorcycle from their possession. "The accused are associated with the Kaushal Chaudhary, Bhupi Rana, and Pawan Shokeen gang," they said.
Officials said the businessman, a resident of Saraswati Vihar in Pitampura, reported the shooting incident, stating that two individuals on a motorcycle fired multiple rounds outside his house and left a note identifying themselves as members of the "Kaushal Chaudhary-Pawan Shokeen-Bambhia Gang."
Based on the complaint, a case was registered at the Rani Bagh police station.
Police were able to catch the two accused on the intervening night of October 28 and 29 after they received secret information that shooters of the Chaudhary-Shokeen gang would visit the Kakrola area to meet their associates.
Officials laid a trap and around 2:15 AM, they spotted the two suspects on a motorcycle.
When asked to stop, the duo tried to flee on their motorcycle but ended up slipping on the road. The police team surrounded them and asked them to surrender. However, one of the accused opened fire, prompting police to retaliate.
In the exchange, one of the suspects sustained a bullet injury to his right leg. Both were taken to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital for treatment, they said.
No police personnel were injured in the exchange, though Sub-Inspector Dharmendra narrowly escaped being hit by a bullet, officials said.
The police seized a semi-automatic pistol, a single-shot firearm, six live cartridges, and a motorcycle. The motorcycle was reported stolen from the Mohan Garden area in September this year.
During interrogation, the accused confessed to their involvement in the Rani Bagh firing incident, officials added. (ANI)
