New Delhi [India], August 3 (ANI): One man was arrested after he stabbed his father to death in the New Ashok Nagar area of New Delhi, said police officials on Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as Gautam Thakur (70), who was found lying on the bed with stab wounds in his stomach, below the ribcage.
As per the information, after killing his father, the man himself called the police to report murder and said that he saw two unknown men who attacked his father with a sharp object.
According to the information, the police officials at New Ashok Nagar Police Station, received information about the crime on Saturday at around 8.40 am.
Upon arriving at the scene, located on the first floor of New Ashok Nagar, it was discovered that the deceased, an elderly man approximately 70 years old, was lying on the bed with stab wounds in his stomach, below the ribcage.
The caller, Mahesh Thakur, reported that around 6.15 am, he heard some noise from his father's room. When he went to check, he saw two unknown men who pushed him and attacked him with a sharp object, resulting in an injury to his left hand. They managed to flee the scene. Mahesh Thakur found his father dead on the bed. He informed his brother and other family members before making a PCR call. Based on his statement, a case was registered.
But later on, it was found that Mahesh himself had murdered his father after feeling betrayed. After his confession, he was arrested.
According to DCP East Apoorva Gupta, "During the initial investigation, several inconsistencies were found in the complainant's narration and discrepancies in his story. Post an intensive round of questioning, the complainant admitted that his father had sold some property two years ago. From the proceeds, his father had helped his elder son purchase property in New Ashok Nagar, but Mahesh, the younger son, received nothing. Mahesh also discovered that his father was planning to sell the building where the family currently resided, in conjunction with the elder son, and was keeping it a secret from him. Feeling betrayed and helpless about securing his family's future, Mahesh planned and executed his father's murder while the rest of the family was asleep."
"Following this confession, Mahesh Thakur was arrested. At his instance, the weapon used in the crime, a large kitchen knife, was recovered from a water tank on the roof of an adjacent house, where he had disposed it," said DCP East.
Further investigation is ongoing. (ANI)
