New Delhi [India], Oct 12 (ANI): The Delhi Police on Friday arrested a brother-sister duo for allegedly kidnapping a two-and-half years' old child. The arrested girl is a 1st year student of the University of Delhi and was living as a tenant in the house from where she allegedly kidnapped the child.
After allegedly kidnapping the child from outside his house in Ghitorni in south Delhi on Thursday, the abductors called the family demanding Rs 5 crore ransom. The family complained to police of the incident.
During the investigation, police also checked the CCTV footage. While the police were busy in their investigation, the family kept the communication channel open with the alleged abductors requesting them to lower the ransom amount.
During the course of the investigation, the police also realised that kidnappers were getting all the information about their movement. Subsequently, the police set up the investigation control room away from the victim's house.
The abductors reportedly used WhatsApp for communicating with the family and cloned another senior citizen's number to avoid detection.
After tracking of Internet Protocol Data Record (IPDR), the police followed the lead and arrested the female student. The abducted child was found from a secluded room of a house in the same area.
Later the female student's brother was also arrested. The CCTV footage also apparently verified the brother's role in the abduction.
Prima-facie it was revealed that other than the financial motives, the victim's grandfather had also slapped the accused a while ago which led to the discontent and hatching of the alleged abduction plot by the brother-sister duo. (ANI)
