Delhi Police busts inter-state arms racket

New Delhi [India], Mar 16 (ANI): Delhi Police busted an inter-state ammunition supply racket on Saturday and arrested one person with a huge cache of ammunition including 2000 live cartridges.

New Delhi [India], Mar 16 (ANI): Delhi Police busted an inter-state ammunition supply racket on Saturday and arrested one person with a huge cache of ammunition including 2000 live cartridges.
Rs 25,000 was also recovered from him.
The police apprehended the accused Amarlal when he arrived in a white Eon car to deliver a huge cache of ammunition. A total of 1000 live cartridges of .32 pistol and 1000 live cartridges of .315 were recovered from his possession.
Earlier, a special team of police arrested two arms suppliers under section 25 of Arms Act, PS Crime Branch and recovered 28 sophisticated pistols. The team carried out search operations in the states of Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.
"These arms/ammunition were being supplied to the gangsters as well as criminals of Delhi/NCR on payment basis," the police said.
According to police, 62-year-old Amarlal hails from Fazilka, Punjab. He started to sell ammunition illegally to criminals after he suffered a huge loss in the business. He has been indulging in this illegal supply of ammunition to the criminals since 2002.
Amarlal was first arrested by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in fake arms license case in 2002 and later on by local police in arms act cases.
During interrogation, the accused disclosed that he used to get the ammunition at a cost of Rs. 125-150 per cartridge from a known gun house owner in Shahbad, Ambala and further used to sell to the criminals for Rs. 200-250 per cartridge.
 The police has registered a case against Amarlal under section 25 of Arms Act. (ANI)
