Delhi Police bust gambling racket,16 nabbed

The Delhi police have busted a gambling racket and arrested 16 persons in Bhawani Kunj, police said in a release.

New Delhi [India], October 30 (ANI): The Delhi police have busted a gambling racket and arrested 16 persons in Bhawani Kunj, police said in a release.
With their arrest, cash worth Rs 2.20 lakh, 760 plastic coins and 2 packs of playing cards were recovered, police said.
"The staff of PS Vasant Kunj South, South West District had done a commendable work by arresting sixteen gamblers," as per an official press release.
The arrested accused have been identified as Aashish Dheengra, Naveen Kumar, Mukesh Kumar, Amit Kumar, Rahul Gupta, Sachin Gupta, Aakash, Shubam Dubey, Aman Dheengra, Shyamal, Piyush, Kanahiya, Vipin Chopra, Aman Khurana, Prashant Gupta and Hardeep Singh.
"To curb organized crimes like gambling, a team of PS VK South was specifically detailed to develop key inputs regarding hotspots of organized crime and take action against the persons involved in organized crimes. On 29.10.2024, secret information regarding Gambling in Bhawani Kunj, PS Vasant Kunj South area was received to HC Kishan at Bhawani Kunj, South-West District," Delhi Police stated in the release.
On receipt of the information, a team comprising of Sub Inspector Upender Singh, Head Constable Kishan, Head Constable Manjeet and Head Constable Kuldeep was formed under the leadership of Inspector Arvind Pratap Singh, SHO/VK South and overall supervision of Satyjeet Sarin, ACP/Vasant Kunj to act swiftly. The team further developed the information and conducted a raid.
"On reaching the spot i.e. Flat No 67 First Floor, Bhawani Kunj, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi, 16 persons were found indulged in gambling. A total stake amount of Rs 2,20,200, 760 plastic coins and two packs of playing cards were recovered. In this regard, a case FIR under the Delhi Public Gambling Act was registered at PS Vasant Kunj South," as per the release.
All the 16 accused persons were apprehended and the recovered articles were seized. Investigation regarding the owner of this property is in progress, Delhi Police said in the release.
