New Delhi [India], November 12 (ANI): The special cell of the Delhi Police arrested a key member of the infamous Nandu Gang on Tuesday, who played a key role in multiple shootings across the national capital.
According to the police, a "pivotal figure," identified as Shivam (alias Bhola) was arrested from Najafgarh on November 12.
"His arrest is a significant disruption in the ecosystem of the gang," read a statement by Delhi police.
The Police further said that the arrested person also played a key role in the gun firing at a departmental store in Paschim Vihar and a car showroom at Chhawla.
Describing the incident, the police said, "In one such incident, on 06.11.2024 firing outside a Departmental Store at Paschim Vihar, Delhi was reported. On the same day, another incident of gun fire in a car workshop at Chhawla was also reported. These incidents were found to be handiwork of gangster Kapil Sangwan (alias Nandu)."
The special cell formed multiple teams to work on these cases, and the police said that the teams engaged various sources and finally narrowed down the suspects.
"The dedicated team made continuous indefatigable efforts and finally on 12.11.24 succeeded to arrest Shivam (alias Bhola). On interrogation, he disclosed to be a member of Rahul Baba gang having alliance with Nandu gang and his specific role in providing transportation and financial help to the shooters involved in Paschim Vihar & Chhawla gun fire incidents," read the statement by the Police.
"His interrogation shed light on the modus operandi of the extortion racket being run by Nandu from abroad. His arrest revealed critical details about the organized crime network including structure and operational tactics, which are designed to evade capture of other members of the gang, even if foot soldiers are apprehended, which has always been a challenge to law enforcement agencies in combating organized crime syndicates," the statement added.
The police also recovered one pistol along with three live cartridges from his possession.
Further investigation into the case is ongoing. (ANI)
