New Delhi [India], June 3 (ANI): To ensure adequate arrangements at 'Rain baseras' during the ongoing heat wave, Delhi's Urban Development Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj on Monday afternoon conducted a surprise inspection of several night shelters in Delhi, an official statement said.
Saurabh Bharadwaj, who is Vice Chairman of the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB) took stock of the arrangements made at the night shelters.
During the inspection, the minister inspected whether the night shelters have sufficient arrangements to beat the heat, including the availability of cold drinking water and other means to provide relief from the heat, conducted the surprise inspection alone to ascertain the arrangements made to combat the scorching heat at the night shelters, it added.
Issuing a statement, Minister Bharadwaj said, "he saw adequate arrangements for water dispensers to provide cold drinking water to the people and water air coolers for cold air."
He said, "Night shelters have been built at several places across Delhi, so as a precaution, he has issued instructions to the CEO of the DUSIB, that he should inspect all the night shelters of Delhi on a war footing and wherever any deficiency is found in the system, it should be rectified immediately".
"Arrangements must be made immediately wherevr any deficiency is found in the water arrangement or supply of cold water. And, wherever a problem with the air cooler is noticed, that problem should be resolved immediately," he said.
The National Capital has been reeling under a fierce heatwave for the last few days. (ANI)
