Delhi man dies by suicide in Karol Bagh's private hotel, probe underway

A man allegedly died by suicide in a private hotel in the Karol Bagh area of the national capital, Delhi Police said on Tuesday.

New Delhi [India], April 25 (ANI): A man allegedly died by suicide in a private hotel in the Karol Bagh area of the national capital, Delhi Police said on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Md Amir, 30, who hailed from Delhi.
The police had received the PCR call on Monday regarding the incident, following which the Crime team inspected the spot and initiated the investigation. The family of the deceased was informed.
Upon preliminary inquiry, it was revealed that he had married in January this year.
"On reaching the spot in Karol Bagh, it was found that a person has hanged himself from a ceiling fan with chunni," the police said.
The police recovered a mobile phone, PAN card and cash worth over Rs 3,000 from his pocket.
"Dead body has been shifted to Mortury for PM. Prima-facie, it appears a case of suicide," the police said.
The police have initiated proceedings under Section 174 of Crpc.
Further investigation into the matter is underway.
Earlier, a 19-year-old woman allegedly jumped to her death near Dharamshila Hospital in New Ashok Nagar, police said.
The deceased was identified as Swati, a resident of New Ashok Nagar in the national capital, police said, adding that her lifeless body was retrieved from a drain, which was about 25 metres deep.
Further, according to Delhi Police, a PCR call was received at New Ashok Nagar polices station on Sunday in which the caller, who introduced himself as Pawan Jha, stated that his daughter Swati (19) was missing since Sunday evening and her slipper had been found at a drain near Dharamshila Hospital.
Acting on this information, a police team reached the spot.
The victim was identified by her father and husband and no injury mark was found on her body, the sleuths added.
Preliminary inquiry revealed that the 19-year-old got married to Surjeet, an employee at a private firm, on May 31, 2020. (ANI)
