New Delhi [India], October 23 (ANI): Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena participated in the G20 tree plantation ceremony at Nehru Park in the national capital on Monday.
Speaking on the occasion, Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena said, "Being in Chanakyapuri, while your excellencies will witness these trees gain ground in your vicinity, your successors will see these trees grow up to their full glory."
EAM Jaishankar, Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena, Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, and the envoys of the US, Egypt, Nigeria, Germany, UK, and South Korea were present at Nehru Park for the tree plantation ceremony.
Meanwhile, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, PK Mishra, recently discussed the upcoming G20 Virtual Summit, an initiative proposed by PM Narendra Modi in his remarks during the New Delhi Summit.
Since this is the first time that any country will host such a virtual summit following the main summit, the principal secretary emphasised the need for prompt dissemination of information to all member states and guest countries.
During the meeting, Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra briefed the Principal Secretary on the preparations for the second Voice of Global South Summit, which is also scheduled to be held in November 2023.
India took over the G20 presidency on December 1 last year at the summit in Bali and will continue to hold the mantle till the end of November.
India's theme for the G20 Presidency is 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam', which translates to 'One Earth One Family One Future'.
The 18th G20 Summit, hosted over two days, September 9 and 10, drew the highest-ever contingent of world leaders and dignitaries in the event's history, including US President Joe Biden and the Prime Minister of the UK, Rishi Sunak.
The event, hosted under India's presidency of the G20, witnessed the historic formal induction of the African Union (AU) into the grouping and the adoption of a declaration by consensus by the world leaders participating in the event. (ANI)
