New Delhi [India], February 18 (ANI): Lieutenant-Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena and Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora inaugurated the All Women Police Post (AWPP) at Shraddhanand Marg Police Station here on Sunday.
After the inauguration of the AWPP, Saxena said, "This is a historic moment for Delhi Police. There was a huge demand for AWPP here. You are all aware that this area is sensitive. The women victims of the area needed a platform to raise their voices."
He said that the inspiration behind the AWPP was the performance of the women on this year's Republic Day parade.
"There is a sub-inspector in this police post with 10 women constables. They have been provided with scooties so that they can reach out to the women victims of the area. And you must have seen the parade on January 26. The amazing performance of women on Republic Day is the inspiration behind AWPP," LG Saxena said.
"Till now, Delhi Police has almost 15.17 per cent women and the target is to take it to 35 per cent. We will try our best to ensure that, in the next 10 years, this goal is accomplished," he added.
LG Saxena further congratulated Commissioner Arora and said that the way the Delhi Police is working, people will benefit a lot from it in the future. (ANI)
