New Delhi [India], October 6 (ANI): With just six days left for the Ninth P20 Summit, Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena on Friday reviewed the status and preparedness of "Yashobhoomi", the India International Convention Centre (IICC), and its surroundings at Dwarka, New Delhi, in view of the forthcoming Summit.
"It may be noted that much in terms of landscaping, repair of roads, revamp of public infrastructure, etc. remain to be completed at the venue site due to the heavy construction activities that the area has been witnessing for the past more than 2 years," read a press note from the Lieutenant Governor's Office.
The LG had held a meeting of all concerned officials at Raj Niwas yesterday, Thursday, to chalk out the way ahead, and following this meeting, the visit today took him on the roads of Dwarka.

Saxena inspected the "state of the art," world class and most sophisticated exhibition and convention complex, showcasing the diverse and rich art and culture of India, and appreciated the impressive facilities inside the complex.
"However, he said a lot needs to be done outside the complex and asked the project developer Larsen & Toubro, the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), MCD, and PWD to coordinate and develop the surrounding area of the IICC on the lines of Bharat Mandapam at ITPO, which was the venue of the recently concluded G-20 Summit," stated the release.
He also discussed on spot the traffic arrangements for the movement of the delegates with Delhi Police and issued instructions for seamless transport and traffic movement.
LG issued specific instructions for removing malba / C&D waste, barricades, crash barriers, and illegal hoardings that have been lying along the route to be taken by the delegates.
"Apart from landscaping and beautification around Gate No. 6, from where the VIP will enter the venue, all civic agencies and NHAI have been directed to keep the area clean. Further, Delhi Police has been tasked with the deployment of PCR vans, ambulances, and fire tenders in and around the venue," as per the release.
Saxena also asked for installation of proper branding signages, flag poles around the venue and instructed that non-functional street lights, especially between Gate No. 1 and 4, be rectified at the earliest. The Forests Department was directed to suitably place 10,000 flower pots by the 10th of this month, so that they are in bloom when the Summit starts on 12th.
The LG, who was accompanied by Chief Secretary, Chairman NDMC, Principal Secretary PWD, MCD Commissioner, DDA Vice Chairman, Principal Conservator of Forests, Special CP (Traffic) and other senior officers, discussed details of the arrangements likely to be made for the P-20 Summit, hosted by Parliament of India in cooperation with Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) on October 12-14, 2023.
After hosting Heads of G20 countries during the G20 summit last month, Delhi is now getting ready to host the P20 Summit (meeting of G20 Parliamentary Speakers / Presiding Officers) and a congregation of Parliamentarians from across the world for which Speakers from more than 30 countries have already confirmed their participation.
The Summit will be preceded by a Parliamentary Forum on October 12, 2023. The theme of the Summit is "Parliaments for One Earth, One Family, One Future", which draws inspiration from the ancient Indian philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam.
Saxena stressed that the IICC which is a zero-discharge green campus, has to be maintained and should be free from plastics and other hazardous polluting elements. He said that all efforts should be made to keep the carpets, floor and walls clean, stated the release. (ANI)
