Delhi: LG approves 25 acres land allotment for Delhi Teachers' University and other for campuses at Narela

In a major boost to the development of Narela sub-city, as indeed the entire North and North-West Delhi, Delhi LG VK Saxena approved the allotment of 25 acres of land to the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIP) University and another 25 acres of land for the newly established Delhi Teachers’ University at Narela, read a press note by the LG office.

New Delhi [India], August 25 (ANI): In a major boost to the development of Narela sub-city, as indeed the entire North and North-West Delhi, Delhi LG VK Saxena approved the allotment of 25 acres of land to the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) and another 25 acres of land for the newly established Delhi Teachers’ University at Narela, read a press note from the LG office. 
According to the press note, the LG has also approved the request on part of these Universities to purchase flats from the housing stock of the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) in Narela for the purpose of staff housing and student accommodation.
The GGSIPU, which has grown multi-fold since its inception and was facing a severe space crunch, had written to the DDA requesting the allotment of land for its new residential North Campus and had also requested the allotment of DDA flats at Narela to meet the residential requirements of its staff and students, it added.  
Similarly, the ambitious Delhi Teachers’ University established in January, 2022, which has been functioning out of a school building in Outram Line, Mukherjee Nagar, had written to DDA requesting for 25 acres of land in Narela for establishment of its campus along with allotment of DDA flats for housing its staff and students.  
In consideration of these requests, the LG who is also Chairman of the DDA, has approved the allotment of 25 acres of land each to the two Universities by DDA, as also allotment of 200 flats each to them for their housing / accommodation needs, the press note stated. 
Ever since taking over, LG, VK Saxena has been focussing on the all-round development of the hitherto neglected Narela sub-city. Consistent efforts by him had led to allotment of land and construction of a new Court Complex, Police Station, School, MCD Dispensaries and other institutions like the National Institute of Homeopathy, etc says the press note
DTC connectivity from the area had also improved and fresh impetus had been provided to Metro connectivity in its Phase-IV, in the area. (ANI)
