Delhi: Indo-Kazakh conference on logistics to be held tomorrow

New Delhi [India], Oct 30 (ANI): A roundtable conference on the theme “North-South Corridor (Kazakhstan - Turkmenistan - Iran - India). Current situation and perspectives” will be held here on October 31.
The event is being jointly organized by the Embassy of Kazakhstan and the Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations in India with the support of India's Ministry of Trade and Industry.
The purpose of the event is to inform the Indian business community about the logistical capabilities of the eastern branch of the “North-South” transit corridor and to attract Indian business circles to the wider use of this route.
The Kazakh delegation will be headed by Dias Iskakov, president of the Kazakhstan Temir Zholy Express, and officials of the Ministry of Investment and Development of Kazakhstan.
The event will also be attended by representatives of India's Ministry of External Affairs, Ministry of Commerce and Industry and Ministry of Shipping and Ministry of Railways.
Around 50-60 representatives of Indian businesses, including leadership of Indian seaports such as Mumbai, Mundra, Chennai, Calcutta, as well as heads of large Indian transport, logistical and trade companies, are to likely to participate in the event.
A number of bilateral meetings will be held during the event. An agreement on transport and forwarding services by rail is also slated to be signed between the Kazakhstan Temir Zholy Express and Indian logistics company Tuberose Logistics.
The signed document will provide for concrete steps by the two sides to develop promising cooperation. It is also expected that two sides will agree on implementing a pilot supply of goods along the Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran- India route until the beginning of next year.
The wide use of this transport route will significantly reduce the time of cargo delivery and, eventually, increase the trade turnover between the two countries by approximately two or three times. The current Kazakhstan-India trade turnover is around $1 billion. (ANI)
