New Delhi [India], October 7 (ANI): Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday met with Chief Ministers and senior political leaders in Delhi following a review meeting focused on Left Wing Extremism (LWE)-affected states.
The meeting took place at Vigyan Bhavan on Monday and was attended by Chief Ministers from Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Telangana, Odisha, Maharashtra, and Madhya Pradesh.

Among the leaders Shah met were Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Manjhi, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, and National President of the Rashtriya Lok Morcha, Upendra Kushwaha.

The discussion of the review meeting centred on the successful completion of an anti-Naxal operation in Chhattisgarh, where the state police neutralised 31 Naxals. Special attention was given to the effective strategy employed by the Chhattisgarh Police and the success of the state government's schemes.
Earlier in the day, Shah praised the Chhattisgarh government for its efforts in fighting Naxalism, highlighting significant achievements since January. "I congratulate the Chief Minister, State Home Minister, DGP and the entire team of Chhattisgarh. Since January, 194 Naxalites have been killed, 801 Naxalites have been arrested, and 742 Naxalites have surrendered. I appeal to all the youth associated with Naxalism to leave the weapons and come into the mainstream. Whether it is northeast or JK, almost 13,000 have left their weapons and joined the mainstream," he stated.
Shah attributed the successes to the Security Related Expenditure (SRE) scheme, which saw funding increase from Rs 1,180 crore between 2004-2014 to Rs 3,006 crore from 2014-2024. He mentioned, "Under the Security Related Expenditure (SRE) scheme, Rs 1,180 crore was spent on this scheme from 2004-2014, while from 2014-2024 we have spent Rs 3,006 crore which is almost three times."
He also discussed improvements in infrastructure and security measures, stating, "544 fortified police stations have been built in the last 10 years. Earlier the road network was 2,900 km, but now it has increased to 11,500 km." Additionally, Shah highlighted a significant reduction in violence, stating, "Incidents of violence have come down from 16,463 to 7,700, and this number will reduce further by next year."
Shah added that the success in Chhattisgarh should serve as an inspiration for all, noting that villagers had participated in elections after thirty years due to the improved security and development initiatives in the region.
According to a Ministry of Home Affairs earlier release, five Union Ministers, senior officials from central ministries, and representatives from the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) and the Deputy National Security Advisor were also participants of the event. (ANI)
