New Delhi [India], October 2 (ANI): The Delhi High Court recently granted one month of interim bail to a man convicted in the Ashok Vihar triple murder case.
In this case, three men were convicted for three murders.
Two women and one man were killed by the convicts in Delhi's Ashok Vihar area in 2010. Convict Nakul Khari was in custody for more than 14 years.
Division bench of Justices Prathiba M Singh and Amit Sharma granted interim bail to Nakul Khari for one month given period of long incarceration.
The trial court had convicted Nakul Khari along with Ankit Chaudhary and Mandeep Nagar in September 2023 and awarded a sentence of December 19, 2023. His appeal is pending before the High Court.
"Considering the long period of incarceration already undergone, the appellant is directed to be released on interim bail for one month from the date of his release," the division bench said in an order passed on September 27.
Advocate Amit Rana had moved a petition on behalf of Nakul Khari seeking suspension of sentence and his release on bail during the pendency of the instant appeal.
The appellant's counsel, Amit Rana, submitted that interim bail is being sought on humanitarian grounds as the appellant has already undergone incarceration for about 14 years and one month.
It is also submitted by the counsel that the brother-in-law of the appellant passed away on 12th February, and thus the appellant wishes to spend some time with his mother and sister.
Delhi police filed a status report after verifying the address of the appellant's sister. In this case, a married couple, namely Kuldeep and Monika, were killed. Another woman, namely Shobha, for the sake of honour. (ANI)
