New Delhi [India], August 31 (ANI): The Delhi High Court on Thursday enhanced the monthly maintenance to Payal Abdullah and directed Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to give Rs. 1.5 lakh per month as maintenance to his estranged wife.
On April 26, 2018, a trial court granted Rs 75 thousand as maintenance to Payal Abdullah and Rs 25 thousand per month to their son till the age of 18.
In July 2018, Payal Abdullah approached the High Court seeking enhancement of the maintenance awarded.
Justice Subramonium Prasad on Thursday passed the judgement in the plea of Payal Abdullah and directed Omar Abdullah to pay the enhanced monthly maintenance.
The high court has also directed him to pay Rs 60 Thousand per month for the education of his son.
Payal Abdullah had approached the high court and argued that the maintenance awarded was low and not enough for the education of their sons.
Omar Abdullah's plea seeking divorce was dismissed by the trial in 2016. The court had said that he had failed to prove an irretrievable breakdown of the marriage and cruelty or desertion. He has challenged the order before the High Court. (ANI)
