New Delhi [India], December 27 (ANI): The Vacation bench of Delhi High Court on Wednesday called for a detailed health report of businessman Amandeep Singh Dhall by tomorrow (December 28).
He is an accused in ED and CBI cases related to Delhi Excise policy.
He has sought modification of the order of December 22, 2023, passed by the regular Bench whereby the authorities were directed to provide medical treatment to him in Safdarjung Hospital.
He seeks treatment at the Indian Spinal Injuries Centre, mainly on the ground that the ailment with which he is suffering can be better treated at the specialised medical facility for spinal injuries.
A vacation bench of Justice Girish Kathpalia called for a detailed health report of Dhall from the concerned jail Superintendent.
The matter is listed for further hearing on December 29, 2023.
Advocate Tanveer Ahmed Mir appeared for Dhall and submitted that his right to medical treatment of his choice must be respected.
Further, he informed the court that earlier Dhall was taking medical treatment from the same Spinal Injury Centre.
On the other hand, Advocate Zoheb Hossain, Special Counsel for the Enforcement Directorate (ED) submitted that there is no merit in the application given the detailed discussion in
an order dated December 22, 2023.
After hearing the submissions, the High Court directed the respondents to obtain a report from the Medical Superintendent of Safdarjung Hospital, specifically dealing with the apprehensions of the applicant as regards the competence of the hospital to deal with the ailment with which he is suffering.
Given the urgency expressed, the report be filed by tomorrow, the bench said in the order.
Dhall's Counsel informed the bench that yesterday afternoon, he had videoconferencing with the applicant in which it was apprised by the applicant that he suffered some chest pain and his ECG conducted at the jail dispensary reflected some infractions.
"In this regard, a detailed health report of the applicant be called by tomorrow itself from the Superintendent, Jail no. 7, Tihar," the vacation bench directed. (ANI)
