Delhi HC Bar Association to pay homage to Kolkata rape victim, decides to wear white ribbon bands tomorrow

The Delhi High Court Bar Association (DHCBA) decided to wear white ribbon bands on Wednesday as a mark of protest and to pay homage and respect to the Kolkata rape victim and her family.

New Delhi [India], August 20 (ANI): The Delhi High Court Bar Association (DHCBA) decided to wear white ribbon bands on Wednesday as a mark of protest and to pay homage and respect to the Kolkata rape victim and her family.
The DHCBA has condemned the brutal rape and murder of a postgraduate trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata. In an emergent meeting, the Executive Committee of DHCBA unanimously called for stringent action against the perpetrators and urged both Central and State Governments to implement measures to prevent such incidents and enhance women's security. Additionally, they resolved to provide pro-bono legal assistance to the victim's family to ensure justice.
Resolution states that, "We condemn the barbaric and brutal incident of rape and murder of an innocent and young postgraduate trainee doctor while on duty at the state-run RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata. We appeal the investigating agencies to take stringent actions against the perpetrators at the earliest. The Executive Committee further resolved and appeal to the Central Government and State Governments to take necessary measures to prevent recurrence of such incidents to repose faith in minds of general public and improve security for women all across the country. The Executive Committee also resolved to provide pro-bono assistance to the family of victims in such like cases to help them seek justice and get the guilty persons punished."
In solidarity and to honor the victim and her family, the Delhi High Court Bar Association has decided that its members will wear white ribbon bands on August 21, 2024. (ANI)
