New Delhi [India], June 23 (ANI): The Delhi government has scrapped the requirement for a "police license" for seven categories of business establishments, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced on Monday, adding that entrepreneurs will only need to obtain permission from the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), or the Delhi Cantonment Board to operate.
These business establishments include swimming pools, eating houses, hotel-motels, discotheques, guest houses, video game parlours and amusement parks.
Addressing a press conference, CM Rekha Gupta said, "...It has been decided that the requirement of police license for 7 types of business establishments, including swimming pools, eating houses, hotel-motels, discotheques, guest houses, video game parlours, amusement parks, has been completely abolished... Now, only the permission of MCD, NDMC and Delhi Cantonment Board will be required for these."
Chief Minister Gupta termed this decision a "historic public welfare order" which will simplify the process, save time and cost, and will give a big boost to ease of doing business.
Hailing this decision, the Chief Minister stated that this decision will enable the police force to focus more on ensuring public safety and maintaining law and order.
She said, "This is a historic public welfare order for Delhi... This will simplify the process, save time and cost, and will give a big boost to ease of doing business... Now the police will be able to focus their full attention on public safety, law and order... This will increase transparency and accountability in the entire licensing process. All the process will be held under single-window system."
CM Gupta further asserted that BJP is working to create a liberal environment for businesses in Delhi.
"Delhi government has fulfilled this demand of businessmen. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, our party is working to create a liberal environment for business in Delhi..." she said. (ANI)
