Delhi: FIR registered on bogus calls claiming deletion of names from voter list

New Delhi [India], March 15 (ANI): An FIR is registered by Delhi police following complaints regarding bogus calls about the Delhi’s electoral rolls, and its investigations are underway, said officials.

New Delhi [India], March 15 (ANI): The Delhi Police on Friday registered an FIR on complaints regarding people of the national capital receiving bogus calls claiming their names have been struck off electoral rolls, said officials.
Issuing a media note in this regard, Special Commissioner of Police (Crime), Delhi said, "As far as the allegations against us (Delhi Police) are concerned, we have already responded about them to Election Commission. No call centre owners have filed a complaint regarding harassment by our investigating team members."
Delhi police also asserted that relevant facts of the matter are being ascertained and no person has been arrested in the case so far.
The police are ascertaining facts from the call centres from where such calls have been made.
Earlier on February 9, the office of the chief electoral officer, Delhi, on Saturday issued an advisory for people in the national capital to guard against misleading calls from unknown persons.
The Office of Chief Electoral Officer, Delhi said: “It has been brought to the notice of Chief Electoral Office, Delhi, that a large number of calls have been received from unknown persons by many citizens of Delhi telling them that their names have already been deleted in the electoral roll.” (ANI)
