Delhi EC issues advisory over anonymous misleading calls to voters

New Delhi [India] Feb 9 (ANI): The office of the chief electoral officer, Delhi on Saturday issued an advisory for people in the national capital to guard against misleading calls from unknown persons.

New Delhi [India] Feb 9 (ANI):  The office of the chief electoral officer, Delhi on Saturday issued an advisory for people in the national capital to guard against misleading calls from unknown persons.
The Office of Chief Electoral Officer, Delhi said: “It has been brought to the notice of Chief Electoral Office, Delhi that a large number of calls have been received from unknown persons by many citizens of Delhi telling them that their names have already been deleted in the electoral roll.”
"Citizens are hereby advised to beware of such misleading calls coming from unknown persons/entities/sources. The only authority to add or delete a name in the electoral is Electoral Registration Officer," said the electoral office advisory 
Arvind Kejriwal, Chief Minister of Delhi in a response on twitter said that his government had enquired and found that from the list of 24 lakh names deleted from the electoral roll in Delhi according to a list given to the AAP by the EC, some were wrongly deleted.  
“EC gave AAP a list of 24 lakh names deleted in Del 1. Del govt enquired in some deletions found them wrong? Why EC protecting those officers? 2. Why EC not allowing Del govt to do enquiries in all deletions? EC itself didn’t conduct enquiries AAP won’t allow telengana it in Del,” the chief minister tweeted.





Kejriwal referred to the issue of missing voters names in Telangana including badmintion player Jwala Gutta and said, “1. 22 lakh names wrongly deleted in Telengana- Didn’t EC aplogise? 2. Why were Jwala Gutta n her family names missing at polling centre tho they existed on EC website?. (ANI)
