New Delhi [India], Oct 13 (ANI): The Karkardooma Court has recorded its proceeding of pre-summoning evidence in a defamation case against Bollywood film 'Newton'.
Tamal Sanyal, Sub-Inspector from Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) had earlier filed a criminal complaint against the makers of 'Newton' seeking unconditional public apology.
Court in its proceeding of pre-summoning evidence against the accused producers of the movie recorded the partial statement of the complainant and fixed the next date of hearing for examination of witness on January 4.
Sanyal in his petition has sought unconditional apology from the makers and also the deletion of the scenes allegedly portraying the CRPF in bad light. He has even asked for re-release of the movie.
The petitioner alleged that the makers had made false and baseless imputations with the sole mala fide intention to injure and harm the image of CRPF.
'Newton', which was India's official entry for the Oscars earlier this year, revolves around a rookie but idealistic election officer and his struggles to hold elections in a Chhattisgarh village despite the threat of Naxalite-affected area. The film featured Rajkummar Rao in the lead role. (ANI)
