New Delhi [India], May 31 (ANI): Delhi Police have invoked the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) against the Himanshu Bhau Gang for their continuous involvement in unlawful activities, officials said on Friday.
This comes weeks after the gang fired at Fusion car showroom in Delhi. The gang also demanded a ransom of Rs 5 crores from the owner of the car showroom.
So far, two accused, namely Ketan and Mohit, have been arrested in the case.
The incident occurred on May 6, wherein three persons indiscriminately fired inside and outside the Fusion Car Showroom with the intention of creating terror for gang leader Himanshu Bhau. Six people sustained injuries during the incident.
The accused also left a note claiming themselves as a syndicate of the said gang.
The incident was reported at Tilak Nagar Police Station on the evening of May 6. The Delhi Police registered the case under sections 307 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code along with sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act.
The complainant received a threatening call from an international VoIP number. The caller, claiming himself as Himanshu Bhau, demanded a ransom of Rs 5 crores. Accordingly, section 387 of the IPC was also added to the case.
The investigation of the case was assigned to the Crime Branch on May 14.
