New Delhi [India], January 19 (ANI): The Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) is all set to elect its new National President today, with the nomination process underway at the party headquarters in Delhi. The (Sangathan parv) event is expected to witness a grand show of strength, with chief ministers from BJP-ruled states, state unit heads, and senior leaders converging in the capital.
The nomination process is scheduled to take place between 2 pm and 4 pm, followed by the scrutiny of nomination papers from 4 pm to 5 pm. Candidates will have the option to withdraw their nominations between 5 pm and 6 pm, and the national election officer will issue a press statement at 6:30 pm.
Nitin Nabin, BJP's National Working President, is all set to file his nomination for the top post today. With the backing of top leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, Nitin Nabin is expected to be elected unopposed as the party's 12th national president, making him the youngest to hold the position.
The electoral college, comprising representatives from the party's national council and state councils, will finalise the new president. As per the BJP constitution, a candidate must be proposed jointly by at least 20 members of a state's electoral college and have a minimum of 15 years of membership.
If everything goes as planned, the BJP will announce its new national president on January 20, 2026. The event is being seen as a significant milestone in the party's history, with Nabin's election expected to bring a new wave of energy and unity to the party.
Nitin Nabin is currently 45 years old. He was appointed as the national working president on December 14, 2025. Now, the party is likely to make him the national president. If this happens, he'll be the youngest ever to hold the post.
The BJP is gearing up for its national president election, and the party headquarters is buzzing with activity. The elevation of Nabin will also mark a huge generational shift for the party as it gears up for critical elections this year and next. (ANI)
