Delhi: Anti-terror response exercise carried out at Red Fort ahead of Ramleela

New Delhi [India], September 26 (ANI): A simulated Anti-terror response exercise was carried out at Shree Dharmik Ramleela at the historic Red Fort, Delhi Police said on Monday.

New Delhi [India], September 26 (ANI): A simulated Anti-terror response exercise was carried out at Shree Dharmik Ramleela at the historic Red Fort, Delhi Police said on Monday.
The simulated scenario was that four fully armed terrorists, did a bomb blast and injured a few civilians and have taken certain innocent civilians hostage in the basement of Ticket Counter, Red Fort, they added.
Immediately, a message was flashed to all concerned agencies including CAT, Fire, DDMA, and Special Cell, SWAT teams of Delhi Police. Within minutes of incident, a Command Post was set up under the leadership of, the undersigned. Five to 6 teams from within the North District police were pooled in with complete bullet proof jackets and fire power to act as first responders.
"First of all, complete access control was established within minutes and the incident site was cordoned off to avoid any further damage. All agencies responded swiftly. The terrorists were challenged by the team of North District under the supervision of Undersigned, comprising of Sh. Vijay Singh, ACP/Kotwali, Sh. Ved Prakash Kumar, ACP, SHO/PS Kotwali etc. along with Special Cell and SWAT team of Delhi Police under the guidance of undersigned," read an official statement.
Out of the four terrorists, one terrorist was overpowered by the Swat Team of Delhi Police during the drill. Three other terrorists were neutralised by the Swat Team of Delhi Police. One hostage was recovered and evacuated safely and the injured were rushed to the hospital in good time.
The Programmes of Ramleela at Red Fort is one of the oldest Ramleela venues of Delhi which is almost 100 years old. Heavy footfall and a floating population of around one lakh people/visitors throng often the area during the event. Red Fort itself being a vital installation is a highly sensitive place and is vulnerable to anti-social threats.
"In the run up to the festive season, North District will be regularly organising such mock drills at important vital installations and major celebrations augmented by Anti-Terror measures in all vital installations and market area etc," the statement added. (ANI)
