Defence Minister, Uttrakhand CM pay homage to late Squadron Leader Siddhartha Negi

Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India], Feb 5 (ANI): Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat on Tuesday paid homage to late Squadron Leader Siddhartha Negi who was among the two pilots who lost their lives in the crash of a Mirage 2000 aircraft in Bengaluru on February 1.

Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India], Feb 5 (ANI): Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat on Tuesday paid homage to late Squadron Leader Siddhartha Negi who was among the two pilots who lost their lives in the crash of a Mirage 2000 aircraft in Bengaluru on February 1.
The Defence Minister and the Chief Minister visited Squadron Leader Negi’s house, situated in Dehradun’s Panditwadi, and extended their condolences to the family.
Sources in the Air Force said initial reports suggest that the plane took off and then made a failed landing attempt, after which parts of the front portion broke off and the aircraft crashed into a gate near the runway.
The avionics and electronic warfare capabilities of the planes were upgraded and the two pilots were taking it for an acceptance test when it crashed at the HAL airport.
The IAF test pilots - Squadron Leader Siddhartha Negi and Squadron Leader Samir Abrol were flying the aircraft. Both pilots were from the Aircraft and Systems Testing Establishment.
One of the two pilots managed to eject from the plane, however, he fell on the debris and lost his life.
The other pilot was rushed to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries. (ANI)
