"Deep depression over Bay of Bengal likely to intensify into cyclone": IMD

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday said that the Deep Depression over the West-central Bay of Bengal is likely to intensify into a Cyclonic Storm during the next 6 hours.

Bhubaneswar (Odisha) [India], October 23 (ANI): The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday said that the Deep Depression over the West-central Bay of Bengal is likely to intensify into a Cyclonic Storm soon.
"It is very likely to move nearly north-northeastwards and cross Bangladesh coast between Khepupara and Chittagong around the evening of 25th October as a Deep Depression," IMD added.
IMD also said that the sea condition will be rough till today evening and advised fishermen to not go near the sea.
Senior Scientist of IMD Bhubaneswar, Uma Shankar Das told ANI "Yesterday's deep depression that has moved with a speed of 13 km/hour in the Northeast direction, it is very likely to intensify into a very cyclonic storm in the next 6 hours. Sea conditions will be rough to very rough till this evening and from tomorrow the sea condition will be very rough to high, fishermen have been advised not to go into the Westcentral Bay of Bengal till 25th October and the north Bay of Bengal till 26th October. It is the time of paddy harvesting, so those people who are harvesting are advised to complete it fast and keep it in a safe place."
The Odisha government has already instructed all the officials of different departments to be prepared for any upcoming possibility and asked them to evacuate people from sea shores and low-lying areas. (ANI)
