Nagpur (Maharashtra) [India], November 18 (ANI): Following activist Anjali Damania's allegations of Rs 500 crore corruption against Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, Maharashtra Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule stated on Tuesday that a decision will be taken in this regard once the matter is submitted in writing to the government.
Anjali Damania had alleged that a hospital built by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is being handed over to one of Ajit Pawar's relatives in a public-private partnership.
Bawankule told reporters, "I don't have information about the allegations made by Damania ji. When the matter comes to the government in writing, a decision regarding it will be taken."
Ajit Pawar, who is facing the brunt for his son Parth Pawar's alleged link to the Pune land scam, is now surrounded by a fresh controversy.
Sharing a media report, Damania alleged that the hospital is being handed over to Pawar's relatives.
"Now and another 500 crore hospital to Ajit Pawar's relatives? Shatabdi Hospital is a 580-bed hospital, built by BMC. Despite opposition, a plan was made to give it on a PPP basis, and coincidentally, the bid has been placed by Padmasinh Patil's Terna Public Charitable Trust. Nearby, RSS is building a hospital, and this ready hospital is being handed over to Ajit Pawar's relatives," the anti-corruption activist wrote on X.
Hitting out at Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, she added, "Chief Minister Fadnavis, do one thing, once and for all, shove the entire Maharashtra down the throats of all politicians and be done with it."
Meanwhile, Maharashtra Minister Pankaj Rajesh Bhoyar dismissed the allegations, saying that it is "natural" for politicians to face such accusations.
Bhoyar said, "It is natural for anyone active in politics to face allegations. But it is not appropriate to react to any matter without investigating it."
Earlier, Ajit Pawar had faced criticism from the Opposition over a controversy surrounding the sale of 40 acres of government-owned land in Pune's Mundhwa area to Amadea Enterprises LLP, a firm linked to Parth Pawar. The deal has been criticised for allegedly undervaluing the land and evading stamp duty.
While an FIR has been registered in the case, Parth Pawar's name has been omitted. In response, CM Fadnavis has defended the government, saying, "When an FIR is registered, it is filed against the express parties involved." (ANI)
