New Delhi [India], January 19 (ANI): Congress leader and former MP Danish Ali on Sunday criticised Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat's remarks on Dharma.
"Do saints belong to only one community, or should saints of all communities be respected?" Ali asked.
Addressing an event 'Vihar Sevak Urja Milan', earlier the RSS chief noted that Dharma is the driving force behind all existence and also governs the entire universe. He said that Dharma guides all existence like fire burns and water flows, and as long as it steers India, the nation will remain a "Vishwaguru". He also spoke about the role of Dharma and the respect for saints.
Further he emphaised that dharma is not confined to religion, but it is the guiding principle of all creation.
"Those who abide by the truth on which religion is based are called saints. Therefore, it is the duty of all of us to ensure the respect and protection of saints. That is why the country's Prime Minister also says that I hesitate to say 'no' to saints. We should always keep in mind that we are doing the work of God, but we are not God," Bhagwat said.
The Congress MP referring to Bhagwat's comments pointed to the incident in Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh where police took action against 15 people in Mohammadganj village in Bareilly district for allegedly offering namaz in a vacant house without permission. According to Anshika Verma, Superintendent of Police (South) said that on the complaint of some villagers objected to Namaaz prayers being held regularly at an vacant house in without permission, following which personnel reached the spot on Friday and issued challans.
Referring to this incident, Congress former MP Ali said "Where is the respect for saints?"
The former MP also criticised the present government and its "bulldozer culture," calling it a threat to all religions. He claimed "Earlier, Mazar and mosques were being demolished, and now temples and idols are being destroyed."
"All Congress workers are on the streets to save the temples and idols in Kashi because the present government is hurting the identity of Kashi," Ali claimed. (ANI)
