Cyclone Gaja: Rajnath assures assistance in mitigating situation in TN

New Delhi [India], Nov 16 (ANI): Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday spoke to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami over the current situation in the state after it was hit by cyclone Gaja.

New Delhi [India], Nov 16 (ANI): Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday spoke to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami over the current situation in the state after it was hit by cyclone Gaja.
Singh tweeted, "Spoke to CM EK Palaniswami regarding the situation in the cyclone-affected areas of Tamil Nadu. Assured all possible assistance from the Centre in mitigating the situation arising due to cyclone. Asked the Home Secretary to monitor the situation and provide all help to the state administration."
On Thursday, two people lost their lives and one suffered serious injuries owing to cyclonic storm that made a landfall in the state.
Disaster Management incharge Gagandeep Singh Bedi told ANI that they have sent more than 2500 officers with mechanical equipment in the state to remove the fallen trees and other disruptions.
Cyclone Gaja crossed Tamil Nadu and Puducherry coast between Nagapattinam and Vedaranniyam on Thursday evening and unleashed mayhem in several districts of the state including Nagapattinam, Tiruvarur, and Thanjavur.
In the wake of the situation, a red alert has been issued in some parts of the state. (ANI)
