New Delhi [India], June 3 (ANI): The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) on Tuesday initiated a thorough inquiry against one of its personnel, who was arrested on allegations of molesting two women at Kolkata railway station.
In a statement, the CRPF said that the incident was reported to have taken place during the deinduction of the force unit at Chitpur railway station.
The force stated that as the matter is under investigation by the state police, it is examining the claim and has assured of taking appropriate legal action regarding the matter.
"The alleged incident occurred during the de-induction of the force component at Chitpur railway station. CRPF is enquiring into the allegation. Kolkata police are also investigating the matter. Action in accordance with law will be taken," a CRPF statement reads.
CRPF's statement came after one of its jawans was on Monday arrested for allegedly molesting two women in the city's Chitpur area.
It is alleged that the CRPF jawan, who had just completed election duty in Baruipur within the South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal, arrived at Kolkata railway station on Sunday night, intending to board a special train.
On Sunday night, the allegation further revealed, the CRPF jawan purportedly entered a house next to the station and allegedly molested two sisters who were sleeping inside.
The two sisters later filed an FIR at the Chitpur police station, leading to the arrest of the CRPF jawan. (ANI)
