Crimes against children, a deep concern: President Kovind

Jammu (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], Apr. 18 (ANI): President Ram Nath Kovind on Wednesday termed the crimes against children were "a deep concern for the humanity" and underlined the need for a firm resolve to provide safety to children.

"There is a need to introspect on 'what kind of a society we are developing into?'. I feel the smile of children is the most beautiful thing in the world. The biggest success of our society is to ensure safety of children that they feel secure. It is the first responsibility of any society to ensure the security of children so that they feel safe," President Kovind said while addressing the 6th Convocation of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University in Kakriyal in Reasi district.

"Are we trying to create an environment in which our mother, sisters and daughters are unable to experience justice, equality, independence and friendship? Across the country, our children are being subjected to heinous crimes. Recently, an innocent child was murdered in an unimaginable way," the President added.

Hailing the education system and transport development in the state, President Kovind stated that the improvement was taking place well with time.

"With the help of many schemes and state programmes, medical colleges and institutes have improved through well. Children are now choosing their own interest subjects and skills. I'm proud of the structure that the state is looking towards," President Kovind noted. (ANI)
